Hey God are you Listening? It's Me
Feb. 21st, 2019 03:55 pmSo my laptop won't boot up, which is not conducive to jobhunting. Or Dreamwidth either but it's the only social media I want to talk on, so I'll endure the mobile experience.
Honestly, these few weeks have been utter crap. I just came back from the Malaysian Urban Forum and day 1 was fun because it was nice to listen to talks on things I'm interested in, instead of looking at my future prospects in dread. Day 2 is when it hit me that developers and the housing authorities didn't care for the things I cared about. Or rather they cared but had no idea what it's like to design urban spaces for young working adults with limited access to transportation and housing, much less the elderly and the disabled. Even those few organizations that cared about building people-centred spaces were also speaking from that hippy-dippy startup place that gave cool but not practical ideas. I'm so disheartened honestly. Why do I want to take up more debt to pay for a Masters in Environmental Psychology when no one gives a shit and there are no job prospects?! Maybe it was good to have that notion disabused early.
So now it's back to jobless existential crisis time. I need a hug and a bottle of vodka, gawd!
